Our main objective is to provide a family and kid friendly atmosphere while raising funds to provide a better community park. We would also like to promote the rich history that Fort Hand played in Westmoreland County. To do, this we need your help! Please take this opportunity to be a sponsor for the Fort Hand Festival by helping to defray the cost of the festival and the entertainment we provide. Your donation, in addition to helping fund the festival, is also an opportunity to promote your business. For a donation of $500 or more your company name will be displayed on a banner at the festival. Donations of $100 up to $500 will be given road signs lining the entrance to the park. We will provide signage to promote your sponsorship at the park and throughout the festival..
The mission of the Fort hand Festival is to provide a friendly environment for children and families and to that extent they certainly succeed. Over the weekend there are plenty of great children’s activities like t-shirt coloring, potted tree planting for to take home, and rub on tattoos, or games like a cool hockey take on shuffle board. The kickball tournament for grade school children is a very popular event and karate demonstrations always prove exciting. There are also clowns and children’s mascots roaming the grounds.
For young and old alike there are fun carnival rides set up all weekend at the Fort Hand Festival. There is also a craft show with nearly a hundred food, craft, and community club booths. Saturday night is fireworks, and on Sunday only are the flea market and the Chinese auction. One of the more interesting caveats to the festival is the Quilt Documentation Project. This nationally funded project is a great opportunity for visitors to bring their quilts and for a small fee to be documented in a national database to help tell our history through the quilts that have been made.
